Lose grip on purpose.
Learn to get it back.
Our signature programme: 90 minutes on a closed, purpose-built skid pan with an instructor beside you. The one lesson that turns test-day driving into all-weather driving.
The Four Drills
What you'll practise
Each drill is repeated until the correction becomes reflex — because on a real road, you won't have time to think it through.
DRILL / 01
Oversteer & understeer recovery
Feel the back of the car step out on a wet skid pan, then learn the steering and throttle inputs that bring it back in line — at safe, controlled speeds.
DRILL / 02
Emergency ABS braking
Full-force stops from speed, so the pedal pulsing and noise of ABS never surprise you again. You'll learn to brake hard and steer at the same time.
DRILL / 03
Aquaplaning response
What standing water does to steering, how to recognise the floating feeling early, and the correction that keeps you pointed straight.
DRILL / 04
Ice & low-grip hazards
Simulated ice-patch drills: reading the surface, managing speed before the hazard, and staying calm when grip disappears mid-corner.
Safety First
Controlled chaos, by design
Everything about the skid pan is engineered so you can make mistakes safely — the kind of mistakes that would be dangerous anywhere else.
Closed, purpose-built track
No other traffic, no kerbs, no obstacles — just a watered surface and run-off space in every direction.
Instructor in the car
A skid-pan qualified ADI rides with you the whole session, with dual controls fitted.
Low speeds, real physics
The wet surface recreates ice-like grip at under 20 mph — real skids without real risk.
Small groups
Maximum one learner per car, with short rest-and-review breaks between drills.
Who It's For
Open to learners and licence holders
No prior skid-pan experience needed. Around half our skid-pan bookings are experienced drivers who've never actually felt a skid.
Learners
Take it any time after your first few lessons — it accelerates car control faster than anything else we teach.
New drivers
Just passed? This is the winter-proofing your test didn't include.
Experienced drivers
Company fleets, nervous motorway drivers, or anyone who's had a near-miss in the rain.
On the pan
Real sessions, the training cars, and the surface you'll learn on.
